PDCSU observes 66th All India Co-operative Week

Phek, November 24 (MExN): The Phek District Co-operative Societies Union (PDCSU) celebrated the 66th All India Co-operative Week 2019 in all the sub-divisions under Phek district from November 14 to 19 last.


Supported by co-operation department, Government of Nagaland, it was observed in Meluri, Phek, Chozuba and Pfutsero under the theme "Role of cooperative in new India."


The resource persons for the week-long celebration were Bisinle Kemp, ARCS, Phek, Bharati Chinnal, SRCS Pfutsero, Jacob Khing, SRCS Phek and Tsuknungwati ICS Phek.


As per a press release from Kekhwengulo Lea, president PDCSU, the resource persons dealt on the theme ‘Role of Co-operative in New India.’ Special emphasis was given on basic education to strengthen the society.


The cooperative societies were urged to be more sincere and focus on feasible project for sustainable development.
The rural farmers were urged to make the concept of “One Village One society” more practicable.


The scheme for one time settlement to the society who had availed NCDC and ICDP loan before 2007 were provided golden opportunity particularly the weak society who couldn't repay loan in time to avail the scheme and repay the loan of principle amount with only two years interest.


They expressed that the Government was willing to support the genuine working society to become economically sound.


Mhathun Khuvung, BM, NSCB Pfutsero Branch; N Limhathung Yanthan ABM, NSCB Chozuba Branch and Kahoto Field Officer NSCB Phek Branch also joined the celebration in their respective places.


They briefed the status of their respective branches and shared the product/scheme provided to the share holder co-operative societies by the Bank.


The Bank is providing one time settlement scheme for the default loaners, and thus called upon the people to visit the nearest branch for any kind of information regarding the scheme.


Kedoutsolhi Wezah, president, Nagaland Co-operative Societies Union exhorted the gathering on November 19 at Pfütsero and challenged the co-operators to be more serious on vision plan to be a successful society.


The PDCSU and the co-operators further assured to give full support to the co-operation department especially in recovery drive.


It also appealed to all the societies who had failed to repay their loan to promptly avail the one-time settlement scheme and liquidate their loans at the earliest possible time.


All the working cooperative society were further directed to put up signboard in their respective office and to update the yearly audit in consultation with the concerned officers.
