After 10 months, OPDs (Outpatient Departments) in the two biggest government run hospitals in Manipur are likely to re-open soon.
The OPDs at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) hospitals remained closed since March this year after the pandemic started hitting the state.
A meeting of the State COVID Coordination chaired by state principal secretary (Health and Family welfare) held on Saturday has discussed the matter of re-opening the OPDs, an official source said.
With a view to consolidate the declining trend of Covid deaths in the state, the meeting has decided to open the OPD services at RIMS and JNIMS hospitals at the earliest, an official source said on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by director of state health services, RIMS hospital, JNIMS hospital, senior regional director of Union ministry of health and family welfare among others.
Meanwhile, 134 more patients recovered from coronavirus infections in a span of 24 hours in Manipur on Sunday. This update showed that the number of COVID-19 recoveries in Manipur climbed to 25,646.
The additional recoveries included two CAPF personnel and 85 on home isolation, according to the daily update of the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
The control room said that only 48 fresh cases including one CAPF personnel were detected in the past 24 hours (till December 20, 4pm).
These additional fresh cases pushed the overall number of persons diagnosed with the COVID-19 in the state to 27,646. Of these total, 3,333 were CAPF personnel. Of the 25,646 recoveries, 3,124 were CAPF personnel.
Among the 1,663 active cases being treated in various Covid care centres across the state, 205 CAPF them were CAPF personnel. The recovery rate of the state stood at 92.76%.
Meanwhile, one more COVID-19 patient died in the state over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of casualties in the state to 337. A 48-year-old patient from Imphal East district succumbed to the disease on Sunday.
