Kohima, September 26 (MExN): In Commemoration of Peace Channel Foundation Day cum International Day of Peace, students of Little Flower Higher Secondary School Kohima, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Christ King Higher Secondary School and Alder College Kohima were capacitated on the theme “Right to Peace”.
In a press release from the Peace Channel’s Desk stated that peace is one of the most essential requirements of humanity and a necessary pre-requisite for progress, development and sustainability. Addressing to the club members on different occasions, Susan Kulnu, Peace Channel Kohima District coordinator emphasised on the main objective of peace. She motivated the students to understand the concept of peace. Kulnu also shared that peace begins within oneself. She added that battles are not fought in battlefields first, but in the minds of people. Likewise, peace is not made at a conference table but in the hearts first. Inner peace begins at the very moment when we don’t allow the other person or event to control your emotions. Forgiveness and reconciliation pave a way in ushering inner peace. Inner peace is a process of keeping oneself at peace in the midst of stress and discord. She also stated the words of Peter Mc William “If you want peace, stop fighting, but if you want to have inner peace, stop fighting with your thoughts.”
She also urged the students to dream of a peaceful society and put efforts of changing oneself towards promoting peace through the little things that one can contribute for a better tomorrow. She concluded by citing the words of Dalai Lama “Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace.” The event was marked with poster competition which was conducted between the peace club members of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School and Christ King Higher Secondary School Kohima.
