
Kohima, August 13 (MExN): Peducha Village Council conducted mass social work under the theme ‘Clean is ours’ on August 10. The village, which was awarded Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) in the year 2009, observes sanitation day on this particular day every year.
During the social work, village chairman Tsilie Suohumvü advised the youth to play a major role for the success of the clean village mission. He also urged individuals to take part in sanitation and continue to rekindle mass awareness to ensure lasting behavioral change in realizing the dream of a clean village. Meanwhile, he asked the youth to work at least two hours a week for sanitation and be ambassadors for awareness, according to a press release.
The village council gave awards to group D colony for their best performance in cleaning the village, and group A colony for winning in volley competition.
A senior youth leader Thegosevi Shosahie also announced that children who collect waste sweet wrappers from the village will be awarded with Rs. 30 per kg till December 2017.
