Parliamentary Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports and Music Task Force Khekaho Assumi kicking off the penalty shootout tournament at DDSC stadium on Saturday.
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 21 (MExN): A penalty shootout tournament organised by Kuhuboto Town Students' Union in aid of its silver jubilee was held today at DDSC stadium. Team Kupu 5 won the shootout competition and walked away with cash prize and certificates. Flying Ducks, who finished in the second spot was also awarded cash prize. Inaka Sumi of Flying Ducks was declared the best goalkeeper.
Khekaho Assumi, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports and Music Task Force graced the event as chief guest and declared the tournament open.
Addressing a gathering of players, students and well wishers, Khekaho stated that the overall growth and development of a society require contribution from every aspect of life and sports being an integral part of life, plays an important role in the transformation of the society.
He encouraged sports persons of the state to be dedicated and hardworking in pursuit of their dreams in the field of games and sports, while assuring that the government is there to support them. Also pointing out that development of sports and its infrastructure have not been evenly distributed across the state, Khekaho said sports facilities need to be evenly distributed in all corners of the state so that more sports persons emerge to participate and bring name and fame to the state of Nagaland.
