NSCN/GPRN Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah today said that the support of the people for the genuine cause of the Naga nation cannot be doubted. Replying to media persons here when queried about his feeling after directly interacting with people at the grassroot level, he said “People are really happy and their commitment to the cause is always there and I am very happy that our people are sufficiently aware of the sincerity that is expected by them from the Indian government while it is clear that they are all out for solution.”

Muivah was accorded a warm welcome here today after his arrival from Tseminyu where the public came out into the street with flags to welcome him. On being asked whether they will approach other groups for reconciliation, Muivah said “You know, the first problem is how to make the people understand the issue, then on what line we are and what we are for. When people in general could understand then most of the problems could be solved.”

He also stated that groups may be there, adding “it is not hard to understand any group, because our history is clear and the kind of steps we have been taking in our talks with the GoI is also clear. There would be not much problems. If anybody wants to distort the facts of Naga history, of course their will be a problem. But the facts of Naga history are quite clear to us and nobody can, you know, distort it.”

He also stated that “we can reconcile with anyone, provided they are prepared to accept the reality- the uniqueness of Naga history. We will never negotiate or reconcile with anyone respecting his own whims and his emotions.”

One being asked about his ongoing journey and the different places he would want to cover, Muivah said “It is hard to say at the moment but we are doing our best to cover as many areas as possible because it is very essential to make people understand about what we have been doing only then we can expect the support of the people to anything of which we may take initiative.”

On being asked about any peace talks in future, he replied on positive note “but you know there are some points still standing in the way before we start the talks. GoI has also obligations to fulfill.” Meanwhile, Muivah will be addressing the public at Wokha on June 26. Thereafter, he is scheduled to move to Mokokchung.
