Peren, July 18 (MExN): The Block Task Force meeting on Immunization-Measles-Rubella Campaign was held for Peren Block at ADC conference hall, Peren and Jalukie Block at ADC office, Jalukie on July 17.
For Jalukie block, the programme was chaired by ADC Jalukie, Tinujongshi. Officials of various Departments from Chief Medical Office, Social Welfare, Social bodies, Ward Chairman, and Church Leaders attended the meeting. The ADC expressed concern and highlighted the plans in implementation of the MR Campaign. He stressed on the importance of the roles of the stakeholders. He also stated that misconceptions and negative propagandas may arise and in such cases it’s the responsibilities of the members present to stay alert and clear the negative implications. He also shared his own personal experience where a family member died cause of measles.
Dr. Yetovi, Senior Medical Officer CHC Jalukie briefed out on the duties and functioning and importance of Task Force Meeting. Dr. Albert, MO CHC Jalukie briefed about the roles and responsibilities of the different stake holders has to play and the timelines that needs to be followed and the guidelines that has to be maintained.
At Peren Block the meeting was attended by officials of the Chief Medical Office, NGOs, social bodies, associations, Clubs and Ward chairman. The welcomed address was given by the Block programme manager, Peren.
Attending the meeting ADC Peren, Sarita Yadav highlighted about the importance of immunization, stating that every child should be immunized because basing on their immunization card; a child will be given admission in the school or inorder to get passport/Visa for one’s own personal or business matters. She also requested all the stakeholders to create intensive awareness for the success for the campaign.
Dr. Nukshisangla Jamir, DPO UIP/RCH highlighted about the overall Measles-Rubella Campaign. She spoke about how measles is a highly infectious disease and that it mostly affects the children and pregnant women which can cause harm to the unborn child leading to premature delivery or still birth. She stated that there is no specific treatment but it can be prevented with the MR vaccines. Thus, the campaign targets 100% vaccination of all the children from nine months till 15 years of age.
She highlighted that the campaign will start by October 3, therefore the head count of all the beneficiaries for the micro plan is very crucial and important. She also request all the various departments and NGOs, social bodies, associations, club’s to work together for the MR Campaign under the leadership of the ADC Peren, though the main work force will be the medical, social welfare and school education departments. She also highlighted and gave instruction on how the campaign should and must be carried. She especially requested all the stakeholders to create intensive awareness and clear the myth and misconceptions.
