Peren dist warns against manipulation

Dimapur, July 31 (MExN): Zeliang People Organization and Zeliang Students’ Union met in Peren on July 29 and cautioned individuals or organizations against seeking “cancellation” of appointment orders of teachers in the district.

A letter from the ZPO to both the chief minister and president of the Nagaland Education Mission Society explaining the “resolutions” received here, did not elaborate on the context of the certain sections seeking the said ‘cancellation’. It however cautioned that the state government must not bow to the pressure of “these vested interests.” The letter referred to the head of the Education department headed by a cabinet minister and that “it is unbecoming of his cabinet colleague in interfering into the affairs of the department by way of instigating and inciting some organizations to raise up against the justified appointment with fabricated propaganda.”

No individual or organization has the right to interfere in the affairs of the “indigenous inhabitants of Peren district”, the two Zeliang organizations said in the letter. The two frontals sent out a stern warning to vested individuals and organizations “who is trying to bring about the cancellation of the appointment order.” In the event “the order” of the government is cancelled under pressure “of these vested interests, the persons, organization involved will be fully held responsible for any consequences,” the ZPO and ZSU stated. The government is also urged to honor “the decision.” Bowing to pressure and “selfish motive” will attract repercussions, the letter warned.  The meeting also requested the state government to create “more teachers post” for Peren district.
