Peren, April 8 (MExN): The farmers of Peren district undertook an interstate farmer’s exposure tour to Jorhat from April 2 to 6. During the tour, the farmers visited progressive farmer’s field and Assam Agriculture University (AAU) research plot where the farm technical staff demonstrated the farmers on Air layering of Litchi, Assam Lemon and Guava.
The Scientist from AICRP on vegetables highlighted the farmers on tomato seeds extractions, the scientist also explain on nursery preparation and cultivation of chilli, carrot, brinjal, etc. Farmers were also trained on cultivation on bell pepper, nursery raising and ornamental plants cultivation of king chilly were also explain to the farmers.
Mango tree banding with polythene, coconut plantation and multi storeyed, integrated farming were one of the eye opener for the farmers. The farmers were also highlighted on hybrid papaya cultivation and its economics by Farm Technical staff.
The farmers with much enthusiasm also visited the livestock farm where turkey, vanaraja, layers, piggery, rabbit, buffalo and duckery were rearing very successfully. The farmers were also taken to tea garden and processing unit and off season field crops farms. The touring team led by two deputy project directors.
