KOHIMA: The public of Pfutsero under Phek district have submitted a representation to Governor of Nagaland to invoke Article 355 and the special power provided under Article 371(A) on failure of the constitutional machinery in the State.
The representation signed by 53 persons drew the attention of the Governor of the failures of the constitutional machinery in the state, which it said, “has escalated ever since DAN government was installed.”
Quoting Chief Minister’s statement in the State Assembly that the factional firing, killing and their activities are political problems and not law and order problem of the State, the signatories of the representation said “ This stand of the state leaves us as an orphan citizen with the situation and as such in our opinion the State government is no more relevant with the people in matters of internal disturbances caused by factions in the state.”
“Ceasefire is meaningless to your people, when peace of the people is disturbed,” it appealed to the Governor and stated that the present ceasefire amounted to restricting government forces to firing only.
“Ceasefire should not be the permit to freely patrol with arms and terrorize or undermine the security of the life and property of its citizens. It is the duty of a government to provide security and it is the right of citizen to demand,” the signatories added.
