Pfutseromi Youth Org platinum jubilee celebration commences

The four-day long Tsükhenyie festival cum platinum jubilee celebration of Pfutseromi Youth Organization (PYO) commenced today under the theme “Progressing with gratitude and reflection” at Pfutseromi Village Local Ground in Phek district.

Gracing the occasions as the special guest, KG Kenye, Minister for Power & Parliamentary Affairs, Nagaland, expressed deep concern over many issues confronting the present society and called upon the people to come forward and be a peacemaker. Kenye described 75 years of PYO as a momentous milestone and “It is a time to retrospect and introspect the past achievements and challenges faced by the Organization over the years.”

‘It is also a time for PYO to set highest goals and collectively strive to bring progress and prosperity to Pfutseromi village and to our society at large,’ he penned in a souvenir. The minister also prayed that the PYO will continue to carry on its noble venture, playing the dynamic role of bringing all round development to the society.

Kenye unveiled the PYO platinum jubilee monolith and later dedicated the newly constructed Rostrum and released PYO jubilee souvenir.

Also addressing the celebration as the guest of honour, MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero, who also hail from Pfutseromi, acknowledged the PYO pioneers for their futuristic vision and also the present team for their commendable work in making the celebration a grand success. Dr Mero acknowledged the contribution of the past politicians and leaders like Late Weprenyi Kapfo and Late Lhiweshelo Mero (Both from Pfutseromi), who were ministers in Nagaland in 70’s.

In the field of glamour three ladies from Pfutseromi crowned Miss Phek, Miss Nagaland & Miss North East on the earlier occasion. He further challenged the youngsters to excel in the field of sports and competitive exams. Further, he gave a clarion call to the youth to strive forward as “we celebrate this jubilee meaningfully and bring laurel to the village, area, district and our state.”

PYO President, Kope Mero said, “Seventy- five years ago, a group of passionate and visionary young individuals came together with a common purpose- to empower, uplift and inspite the youth of our community. Today, as we reflect on the remarkable journey that has unfolded since then, we are filled with profound gratitude for all those who have contributed to the success of our Organization.”

As we celebrate our achievements, he said “let us recommit ourselves to the principles that have guided us thus far- integrity, compassion and a steadfast dedication to service.”

“As we honour the good traditions and practices of the past, let us embrace innovation, adapt to change, and empower the next generation of leaders to fulfil their potential and create a positive impact in our community and beyond,” Mero added.

The programme was chaired by Neichüpe Kapfo, Vice Principal of Pfutsero Government College while Rev. Dr Kenny Kapfo, Principal, Mission International India invoked God's blessings. Pfutseromi Village Council chairman Lhiwepelo Ritse also shared greetings. Platinum jubilee choir, Pfutseromi Women Society, Porba Youth Organization and Sakraba Youth Organization presented folk tune. Acknowledgement to the dignitaries and well wishers was made by presentation committee co-convenor Adoule Medo. Earlier, COC convenor Khrope Medo led the unveiling of the jubilee monolith while Rev Dr Tshiilingupe Kapfo, pastor PTBC pronounced act of blessings. Weprepe Mero scored blowing of trumpet. Vote of thanks was proposed by COC Co- Convenor Menyelhi Mero while Rev. Neikko Mero, senior pastor KCBCK proposed benediction prayer.

The festival will continue till April 27. The festival will witness a tug of war, extravaganza featuring Moko Koza, ZT Slingshot, Litsuku Lohe, Decalogue and Kuvethito Cürhah etc. Fishing will take place on April 25, clan feast on April 26 and wrestling day on April 27. The celebration also witnessed the presence of friends from Lhisemia of Kohima village and Khwuno Thevo of Khonoma and other neighbouring villages.
