Phek business community protest against assault on shopkeeper by NSCN (IM) kilonser

Phek, September 8 (MExN): Phek Town came to a standstill when the business establishments downed their shutters on September 7, following an incident where Thupuvezo, Kilonser and Steering Committee Member of NSCN (IM) beat up a shopkeeper and threatened the life of the house owner in a drunken state, according to a press release from Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS). The accused was allegedly accompanied by Kishore Singh when the incident happened.   In a press statement, PTYS mentioned that both the accused are habitual offenders of Phek Town for the past years despite their assurance to refrain from indulging in the “anti-social activities.”  

The public of Phek Town, it added, condemn the “unbecoming action meted out by a person in the rank of a Kilonser.”

  Meanwhile, it was informed that the public have resolved that such action will not be tolerated by anybody. The statement issued by PTYS press secretary further asked the NPGs to refrain from enrolling people with ill behavior.  

The youth society also warned that if Thupuvezo Keyho is found indulging in such activities in the future, the public will take stringent action upon him.  

In connection to the assault case, the public of Phek Town have filed an FIR against the accused at Phek Police Station. Therefore, PTYS requested the authority concerned to deliver an appropriate judgment to the accused.  

Further, the public warned the NPGs who had been collecting cow taxes (Cattle Tax) from the dairy farmers or any other taxes from the public, that anybody failing to abide by the resolution will be doing so at their own risk, the statement added.  

Accused given 7 days to clarify intention

Meanwhile, the Chozuba Range Welfare Union (CRWU) Phek Town has condemned Thupuvezo, Kilonser, NSCN (IM) for entering the house of Veta Dozo in Phek Town on September 7 around 9:00 am and threatening his wife, who is the president of Chozuba Range Women Welfare Union (CRWWU). CRWU and CRWWU through a press release issued by Ranyi Vero, vice president and Kudukhoto Tetseo, general secretary of CRWU reminded the accused that if any untoward incident happens to the CRWWU president he will be responsible. Both the unions asked him to clarify his real intention of intimidation within seven days, failing which, they asserted to take own course of action against him. Further, the unions reiterated their decision that they will never tolerate whoever tries to intimidate or harass any of their members residing in Phek Town.
