Phek district holds review meeting on deworming

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 9 (MExN): Phek district conducted a district review meeting on deworming with the allied Department of School Education and Social Welfare on August 9 at CMO conference hall.  

The main objective of the training was to brief them on the upcoming National Deworming Day which will be observed on August 10, it was stated in a press release.  

During the training, Dr Kolhitso Khalo, District Program Officer, RCH/UIP informed that Albendazole tablet for deworming will be given to all children from 1 year to 19 years of age at schools and Anganwadi centre. He also added that the tablet is given to target children every six months.  

Stressing on the importance of preventive measures such as personal hygiene, open-defecation, environmental sanitation, he deliberated that children infested with worm will have anaemia, malnutrition, and poor concentration in studies, the release said.  

He further requested the allied departments to educate and impart the importance of preventive measures during the project meeting for Anganwadi workers. He also expressed the importance of educating mothers on the preventive measures of worm infestation in children.  

The programme was attended by supervisors of Social Welfare department, Supervisor CDPO, JEO, VCCM, DCM, District Coordinator RMSA, BPM and District Media Officer.
