Phek, August 11 (MExN): The Phek District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) has reviewed the status of road connectivity and vehicular movement across the district during its monthly meeting held on August 10.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman DPDB Phek, Rhosietho Nguori, the meeting took stock of the road sector, particularly in view of the ongoing monsoon season and the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, stated a DIPR report.
Officials from the Public Works Department (Roads & Buildings) and National Highways presented status reports, informing the house that vehicular traffic in the district is currently moving smoothly without major difficulties. Er Vikerhe Venyo (EE, PWD R&B, Phek Div), Er Daniel (EE, PWD R&B, Pfutsero Div), and Er Yimkumwati Pongon (EE, PWD/NH-29, Pfutsero-Chozuba) detailed their departments' continuous maintenance efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner acknowledged the departments' work during the monsoon and urged them to maintain their diligence to ensure clear passages and uninterrupted traffic movement for the Independence Day celebrations.
In a key decision, the board unanimously agreed to recommend the establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan in Phek district to higher authorities for final approval, following a brief deliberation on the proposal.
The meeting also addressed the Local Area Development Programme (LADP) schemes for the current financial year 2026-27. A verification committee was constituted for all four Assembly Constituencies in the district, with the ADC Pfutsero appointed as convenor for 16-Pfutsero A/C; SDO (C) Chizami for 17-Chizami A/C; ADC Chozuba for 18-Chizami A/C; and ADC Phek Hq. for 19-Phek A/C.
Departmental activities were presented by the Land Resources and Art & Culture departments. DPO, LRD Phek, Agnes W. Phewhuo highlighted various development schemes being undertaken in the district and shared the challenges faced by her department. Meanwhile, DCO Phek, Zhosa Sabo, outlined the primary functions and cultural outreach programmes of the Art & Culture department, enumerating various ongoing schemes in the district.
