Phek town celebrates Sukrunye Mini Hornbill Festival

Phek, January 17 (MExN): The Sukrunye Mini Hornbill Festival and 17th edition of the Inter-ward Tournament, organized by Phek Town Youth Society began on January 15 at Phek Local Ground, with a message of preserving culture.

Held in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland and Nehru Yuva Kendra, Phek the event was organized under the under the aegis ‘Synchronized Elevation,’ a DIPR report stated on Monday.

Inaugurating the event, Phek Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo said it was a great day for the people of Phek town as they participate in an authentic celebration of a significant festival handed down by their forefathers. He asked the people not to lose the rich culture and social behavior and added the imperative need to maintain COVID-19 protocols during the celebration.

The function was chaired by PTYS Advisor, Neihite Akami, invocation prayer was pronounced by PTBC Pastor Ngutsolo Therie, and the welcome address was given by PTYS President Neizote Venuh, the DIPR report stated.
