New Delhi, October 8 (MExN): The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) will be the technical partner for strengthening healthcare facilities in Arunachal Pradesh. According to a press release, the PHFI agreed to partner the state during a networking meeting with Jomde Lena, Arunachal Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry Officials, and renowned Health Organisations – the PHFI, and Telecommunication Consultants India Limited (a Govt. of India Enterprise) at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi on October 6. Dr. Sandeep Bhalla, Director (Training) and Dr. Priscilla C Ngaihte represented the PHFI at the meeting while Atul Rastogi, executive Director, represented TCIL. PHFI agreed to support training of four programme – hypertension, gestational diabetes, thyroid, and evidence based diabetes management, in the state where local doctors with specific required qualifications will be resource persons after getting trained by PHFI. PHFI will also be the technical partner for health system strengthening of healthcare facilities which are being run by public sector undertakings like NHPC, NEFCO etc. in the state. PHFI will be giving all the technical support as required by the state government including that of public healthcare formation in the state. The Executive Director of TCIL agreed to initiate the implementation of Telemedicine in the hilly terrains of Arunachal. To start with, he suggested for one proof of concept (POC) Node to be established at Itanagar. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Public Health, Ministry of Health and Family, Govt of India. The other delegates from the state of Arunachal Pradesh included Dr. R. Doye (Jt.Director, DHS, DME), Dr. D. Bagra (OSD to Health Minister), and Dr. Raja Dodum (SPO- NHM).
