PIL should not have been filed – Phek NPF

Dimapur, Oct 26 (MExN): The Phek NPF held opinion that if the Chakhesang Youth Front was to remain an NGO and above political party politics its former CYF President (Kuvechutso Doulo) and Advisor (Neiko Akami) should not have filed a PIL in the high court “against the DAN government”. This has rendered disservice to the “their community in particular and the NPF in general”, the Phek division asserted.

“If at all the PIL had to be filed, the Opposition Congress should have done it. So why did Shri Doulo and Shri Akami continued to support the actions of the former CYF leaders. It appears as if they were doing the work of the Congress” stated a rejoinder from Phek unit President  Chivotso Nienu and General Secretary Wepe Mekrisuh. By going to the local media with misleading statements which were blatantly false and dragging the NPF Phek division into the fracas, the two has rendered disservice to their community and the NPF party, it asserted. The division also defended NPF President Dr Shurhozelie asserting that he never “conspired” to axe the duo “without warning and any disciplinary proceeding” as alleged by the duo. “In fact the (NPF Phek executives) had on October 16, 2006 made a representation to the president stating that the duo did not take any interest in party activities for so long. Therefore their resignations have nothing to do with community interests. They should well keep in mind the genesis of all this hullabaloo and look to their own character and actions before pointing a finger at others” the division advised.

The division also alleged that Kuvechutso Doulo, although functioning as Working President of the NPF Youth Wing, never campaigned or even voted for the official NPF candidate in the general elections held February 2003 but went out with “the then Samata Party candidate with whatever little followers he had”. He also never attended a single 17 Chizami A/C NPF consultative meeting although he hails from the constituency ‘apart from holding a responsible party post, the NPF Phek division stated. “It was reported that he never attended any important consultative meetings of the party, not even the one held at Demori Cove, Phesama on 26th September 2006 even though he was personally invited by the president of NPF Phek Division nor did he attend a function during a visit to Chizami by the Chief Minister, Shri Neiphiu Rio in over three and a half year’s rule of DAN government of which NPF is the major constituent. Shri Doulo was supported in his actions by Shri Akami” the rejoinder claimed.

Thus without giving support to the Phek NPF particularly in his own home constituency and being conspicuous by absences in all but one meeting they can never claim that they worked hard in the interest of the party or even the Chakhesang community, it added.
