Pillai arrives in Aizawl, will take oath as Governor today

Aizawl, November 4 (NNN): The newly appointed Governor of Mizoram, PS Sreedharan Pillai arrived in Aizawl on November 4 with his family. Pillai landed at Lengpui Airport late afternoon. He was received by Chief Minister, Zoramthanga, Home Minister Lalchamliana, Chief Secretary, Lalnunmawia Chuango and other officials. Pillai will take oath as the 21st Governor of Mizoram at a swearing-in ceremony to be held at the circular lawn of Raj Bhavan on November 5. Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Ajay Lamba would administer the oath of affirmation, official sources said. The ceremony will be attended by Zoramthanga and his cabinet colleagues, legislators, representatives of all political parties and leaders of civil society organisations of Mizoram. A law graduate, Pillai was appointed by the Centre as the Governor of the state to replace Professor Jagdish Mukhi on October 25. He is the third man from Kerala to become Mizoram Governor after Kummanam Rajashekaran and Vakkom Purushothaman. Born in Venmony Panchayat in Alappuzha district of Kerala to VG Sukumaran Nair and Bhavani Amma in December 1953. He graduated in law from Government Law College, Callicut in 1978.
