Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): The Village Council Chairman (VCC) of Pimla village, K. Lughozhe Swu has clarified that the “unwanted incident” which occurred on August 3 at Pimla-Jalukie junction was created by a single person and no other person was involved. “It was purely an individual to another individual incident and has no tribal colour whatsoever,” the VCC added in a press release.
According to the release, Vito, a resident of Pimla village in an inebriated state had “manhandled” the driver of a taxi (Tata Sumo) and his wife.
Lughozhe said that immediately after receiving information of the incident, he rushed to the spot and first aid was given to both the victims. Along with the co-passengers, the victims were assured that action will be taken as per law and the VCC also apologized to them, the release said.
Accordingly, the accused was apprehended at 9:00 pm on the same day (August 3) and was handed over to the Diphuphar Police Station, Dimapur with a request that the accused should not be given bail without the consent of the Pimla Village Council, it was stated.
“In this connection, it is to state that the incident was committed by a single person (Vito) and no other person was involved. And therefore, there is no question of any other youths/villagers being involved in the incident. It was purely an individual to another individual incident and has no tribal color whatsoever.”
Meanwhile, the VCC stated that for peaceful co-existence between Pimla and neighboring villages and to curb such unwanted incidents, he had given his contact number to the people, especially the driver, so he may be contacted at any given point of time when the need arise.
Further, he once again apologized to the victims (the driver and his wife), the co-passengers and the public in general for the unwanted incident.
Western Sumi Hoho clarifies
Dimapur, August 5 (MExN): With regard to the August 3 incident at Pimla village junction, the Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has clarified that “the unfortunate incident was not related to any tribal issue whatsoever but was purely an act of some miscreants from Pimla village for their selfish interest.”
Condemning the incident, the WSH in a press release issued by its General Secretary, Vikato K. Achumi said that on the same day, Pimla Village Council took up the matter and apprehended the people involved in the incident and handed them over to Diphupar Police Station the same evening. The same was conveyed to the Secretary of Zeliang People Organisation Nagaland on August 4, it added.
The Western Sumi Hoho has requested the organisation(s) concerned to “kindly have proper consultation before issuing any press release so as not to create any misunderstanding and confusion between peace loving tribes/communities.” The Hoho also appealed to the organization(s) not to make a tribal issue out of every stray incident.
It further extended prayers and wishes for speedy recovery of the victims.
