Nagaland launched Janbhagidari event/People’s Participation by cleaning the streets/waste along High School junction to Nagaland Civil Secretariat Park and TMGHSS Kohima on June 1. 

Many students, teachers and officials from school education, SCERT, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland joined plogging this morning to mark to launching of Janbhagidari event in Nagaland.

“Let us make plogging as part of our everyday life,” said Nagaland’s School Education & SCERT, Advisor Dr Kelhrielhoulie Yhome, while addressing the launching programme at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Park.

He maintained that sanitation and personal hygiene “will keep us healthy and keep our world healthy.”

Dr Yhome also called upon the students to make a point to pick up some wrappers on the streets/school compound or home and put in the dustbin, adding that little contribution from their side would help create a better future and better world.  

He also urged each and every individual to come forward and work together to mitigate climate change. “Change can happen only when people come together,” he said.

The programme was chaired by Kevileno Angami, Commissioner & Secretary for School education and SCERT Nagaland while vote of thanks was proposed by Temsunaro Aier, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland.
 
About Janbhagidari event

Janbhagidari event is being conducted in the state as a run up event for G20 under the theme “One Earth, One Family, One future” with focus on Nation Education Policy 2020, Digital Initiatives in Education, Foundational Literacy & Numeracy.

The programme will continue till June 15 across the state, said Kelhikha Kenye, Deputy Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland. This programme is about making a people movement to improve Foundational Literacy & Numeracy in education by involving all the stakeholders.

Series of activities will be conducted in the State. State level plantation activity at Naga Heritage village Kisama on World Environment Day in collaboration with Angami Youth Organization(AYO), publicity in media platforms for community awareness. District/Block and school level activities.

“We must all become ambassadors to ensure that all the community stake holders- students, parent & community leaders are made aware of the importance of Foundational Literacy & Numeracy where children acquire expected FLN competencies- Be able to read with comprehension known and unknown text by Grade 3 (age 3-9 years), be able to do basic numerical operations, Kenye felt.

In line with the National NIPUN Bharat Mission goals, Kenye stressed on the need  to work hard  to achieve the target of Universal Foundational Literacy & Numeracy by 2026-27, if possible before that.

Each of us have important roles to play in strengthening the foundation of our education, he said adding “Let us all join our hands and make this initiative a peoples movement for positive change.”
