Class 10 students from PM SHRI Government High School, Thahekhu, Dimapur, visited the Power Grid Corporation of India, Dimapur, on November 21.

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): Class 10 students from PM SHRI Government High School, Thahekhu, Dimapur, visited the Power Grid Corporation of India, Dimapur, on November 21. The educational trip, organized by Atovi Awomi, the Vocational Trainer for Electronics at the school, aimed to inspire and motivate students by exposing them to real-world applications beyond the classroom.
During the visit, Er Abhishek Kumar, an Engineer at Power Grid, guided the students through various equipment currently in use at the station. He highlighted cutting-edge technologies such as the Gas Insulated System (GIS), Automatic Relay Station, and Power Transformers (both Step-Up and Step-Down), explaining their roles in power transmission and distribution.
Er Kumar also provided insights into the different types of insulators, conductors, and bus-bars used in the grid system. He further elaborated on the importance of moisture-removal machines, oil storage tanks, and fire safety systems designed to protect the grid in case of emergencies.
In addition to these technical explanations, the students were given hands-on experience in fire safety. They learned how to operate various types of fire extinguishers and were educated on their use and application during emergencies.
