Kohima, May 15 (MExN): The Phesamapfü Mechü Krotho (PMK) has condemned the alleged physical and sexual assault on three persons at Phesama on May 12.
In a condemnation letter, the organisation stated that it was “deeply shocked” by the reported incident allegedly involving Seyieneiu Chutso, son of Neise Chutso, and termed the act a “grave violation of human rights.”
The PMK stated that the incident had caused “profound physical as well as psychological damage” to the victims and had also raised concerns regarding the safety and wellbeing of citizens.
Calling for justice, the organisation urged the investigating agencies to conduct a “transparent and timely inquiry” into the case and ensure justice is delivered at the earliest.
The PMK also expressed solidarity with the victims and their families as they recover from the incident. It further asserted that violence against innocent people cannot be accepted and appealed to citizens to collectively stand against injustice in society.
