Poanglüm Festival in Tuensang on Jan 12-13

Tuensang, January 4 (MExN): The Chang tribe under the aegis of Chang Tribal Council (CKS) is celebrating Poanglüm (Winter Festival) on January 12 and 13 in Tuensang. It is a post-harvest festival and a festival of joy and gaiety celebrated with traditional folk songs and dances accompanied by trade fair throughout the celebration. The festival itself is a herald to the villagers to begin the usual process of cultivation in purity and newness to be blessed with abundant harvest in the next cultivation.   The festival will be graced by P. Longen, Minister, Health & Family Welfare Nagaland on the first day and Kipili Sangtam, Minister of Power Nagaland on the second day as chief guest and Koiwang Konyak President, ENPO as guest of honour.   Additional events such as ethnic show in the evening of day one and musical Night on day two are incorporated to enchant the festival, where Tetseo Sisters a renowned artist and INCIPIT Dimapur based band are all set to mesmerise the audience, the two events will be graced by Alem Jongshi DC Tuensang, and S. Chuba Sangla OSD to Higher Education as guest of honour respectively.   The Council (CKS) and the Planning committee Poanglüm through a press note has invited the presence of all the public of Tuensang Town, all HoDs and Government officials under Tuensang Town, the Village Councils of all the Chang villages, all the Chang Unions of different places and well wishers to be part of the festival.
