Pochuris demand job quota review

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): The Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) today expressed resentment on the Cabinet maintaining that the decision on reservation percentage was arrived at without taking into consideration the applied criteria “that determines backwardness.” “Members voiced their resentment and displeasure over the decision of the Nagaland Cabinet which the house felt the decision was taken without the applied criteria into consideration that determines backwardness,” stated a release issued by Vikuolie Jangri president and Dahil Fithu assembly speaker of the union.
The union said the Pochuris were given a “meagre 2% out of the total 37% whereas two of the recognised tribes were given 4% each and six Eastern Naga tribes 25% discriminating Pochury tribe in term of percentage allotted.” This position was arrived at during an emergency consultative meeting on February 25, 2011 held in the conference hall of the Pochury Hoho, Kohima under the chairmanship of the President, PSU.
The meeting was attended by members of all the Pochury frontal organisations, local unit representatives of the PSU, senior citizens and number of students, a union release informed.  Members voiced their displeasure over the decision of the Nagaland Cabinet and cautioned that in the event of not getting ‘justice’, the union decided to go for agitation.  
They appealed to the government to address their grievances inorder so that the “aggrieved Pochury people” would not have to resort to agitations.
