Dimapur, August 27 (MExN): Dimapur police Special Branch personnel on surveillance duty at New Market area arrested one SS Sectional Officer of NNC on August 24, 2011 identified as Katoho Achumi, 24, S/o Tovishe Achumi from Yezashi village, Zunheboto and a resident of Padumpukhri, Dimapur. The arrested accused was apprehended while extorting money from the business shops in the name of NNC. Tax Information Slips of NNC numbering 19 (Nineteen) slips were recovered from his possession. A case of extortion was registered and investigation has been taken up by the police. This was informed in a press note issued by Additional SP & PRO Dimapur.
In another related incident one person namely Izul Lokhanan, 19, s/o. Late Edish Ali from Nagaon, Assam was arrested by the Dimapur police while he was collecting illegal tax in the name of NSCN-IM from the shops located at New Market. The arrested accused revealed that he was a tax collector for the organization. A case has been registered in this connection.
Three burglars apprehended
The Additional SP also informed that on August 23, 2011, at about 10:45 pm, one burglar of a gang of three identified as Hinoto H. Kiba S/o Hokheto Kiba of Asukho village, Zunheboto was apprehended at Kuda village by the house owner while his two accomplices managed to escape after the owner was alerted by his watch dogs that started barking at the sight of the burglars who were attempting to steal his vehicle. On being informed of the crime, Dimapur police personnel on duty rushed to the spot and arrested the apprehended accused. On his interrogation, he revealed the identity of his two accomplices who were also arrested by the police. The other two accused are Vihoto Awomi,19 years, s/o Vitoshe of Sema Settsu, Zunheboto and a resident of Nagarjan Power House area, Dimapur and Aghato Achumi, 22 years, s/o Nivikhu of Kuhuboto town and a resident of Purana Bazaar, Dimapur. A case has been registered in this connection.
