Mon, August 27 (MExN): A police officer in Mon town has “critically injured” one pedestrian while driving around in an allegedly inebriated condition.
The Chenwetnyu Students’ Union (CSU) informed today that around 3:00pm of August 24 last, the ASI In-charge of Police Thana Chen Headquarters was driving in an “inebriated state” in Mon town, near Konyak Students’ Union office, when he hit one W. Winlao, JE, PWD (Roads & Bridges) from behind while the latter was walking on the footpath. He was driving a Maruti car numbered AS 06 D 5474.
The victim was critically injured, informed the CSU in a press release from its General Secretary, Wakho, and Vice President Shaboh. He has now been admitted to the Dimapur district hospital.
The CSU condemned the “deplorable acts” of the ASI who, they alleged, was in possession of Spasmo Proxyvon capsules which, they said, is in “utter violation of law.” A case has been filed against the accused in Mon town police station.
