Poll preparedness review meeting held in Wokha

Wokha, January 18 (DIPR): A joint review meeting of Wokha and Zunheboto regarding poll preparedness for the forthcoming Nagaland assembly election was held on January 16 at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall, Wokha.  

The meeting was attended by Deputy Election Commissioner (DEC) Nagaland in-charge Sudeep Jain, CEO Nagaland Abhijit Sinha, IG Range Wabang Jamir, DIG CRPF Sarabijit Singh, and Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Wokha and Zunheboto.  

The Deputy Election Commissioner reviewed the work and activities relating to the forthcoming election for both the districts. He told the DCs, SPs, and ROs to take very seriously their assigned responsibilities and ensure that major areas of concern are taken care of on time for the smooth conduct of election. The DEC also reminded the Returning Officers (ROs) to visit all the polling stations and sensitize the public about EVMs and VVPAT.  

Meanwhile, Sudeep Jain directed to update areas of concern to the Election Commission so that timely action can be initiated. The officers were asked to master the statutory functions so that no error is committed and to go 100% by the laid down guidelines.  

He also reminded that electricity, sanitary and water supply be made available and arranged in all polling stations.  

Both the Deputy Commissioner and SP of Wokha and Zunheboto apprised the activities undertaken and other security arrangement being made to ensure that no untoward election related violence takes place and election is conducted smoothly.
