Poor connectivity ‘badly’ affecting online education in Chizami range

Student bodies request to immediately rectify erratic network connections and provide quality network coverage 24/7

Phek, June 13 (MExN): Despite several pleas to improve the poor network and internet connectivity in Chizami range, there has been no help or improvement in the service.

On Sunday, several student unions under Chizami range in a joint statement highlighted that poor network and internet connectivity has caused much inconvenience to the people of the area, particularly the student community.

The Chizami Students’ Union, Chizami Town Chakhesang Students’ Union, Simi Village Students’ Union, Enhulumi (Yoseba/Pfutsemi) Students’ Union and Mesulumi Students’ Union stated that the “unreliable slow and no internet connection” has been disrupting people’s daily activities and is a constant bother to the students and teaching community in the discharge of their daily tasks.

At a time when online classes have become the new norm, where quality network and seamless internet connectivity becomes the most important thing for students’ academic activities, the Chizami range continues to suffer poor internet connectivity, badly affecting students’ online classes and exams leading to their frustration and falling behind academically, it underlined.

Stating that the erratic network connection is affecting many families with two or more students who have to share a single phone to carry out their online activities, the unions said, the ongoing pandemic has left no choice to the students and teachers but to rely upon online activities only.

Therefore, the concerned authorities and the network providers namely, Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited are requested to “immediately rectify the erratic network connections and provide quality network coverage 24/7 so that the young students do not have to suffer for no fault of theirs.”

At a time when the country is talking big about Digital India, it is expected of the network providers to provide quality seamless service to the people, it stated.
