Phek, September 7 (MExN): The Porbami Farmers Union (PFU) organized ‘Farmer’s day’ on September 6 at the Panchayat Hall, Porba village with Joint Director, K Remphamo Lotha, Department of Agriculture, Govt of Nagaland as Guest Speaker.


A press release issued by Rinku Bharali ACTO, KVK Phek stated that the programme was attended by officials from Horticulture Research Farm – Pfutsero; SBI-Pfutsero; Krishi Vigyan Kendra- Phek; SDAO-Pfutsero; ATMA-Phek; NSRLM-Phek and NGOs.


It stated that Vevo Dzudo, Chairman welcomed the gathering and briefed about the programme schedule. A folk tune was performed by the Porba cultural society. K Remphamo Lotha, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture in his short speech encouraged the farmers to take up organic cultivation practices for better health and higher income generation. He also urged the farming community to access the facilities provided by the Department. 


Senti Longchar, HO, Pfutsero informed that the facility for cardamom drying is available with the department and urged the farmers to avail the facility. Vebi Chiero, Secretary (PFU) presented the annual report on the activities undertaken in the village and the benefit reaped from it. He also expressed his happiness for providing support to the farmers by different Govt. departments, NGOs and other financial institutions.


The release also stated that in order to encourage the farmers, best three farmers awards were also given during the programme. An exhibition cum sale was displayed in the venue. Vote of thanks was conveyed by Kevecuyi Tureng, VDB Secretary, Porba village. The programme ended with a prayer by Razuveyi Dzudo.
