Poshan Maah rally flagged off across Nagaland

WOKHA, SEPTEMBER 8 (MExN): Poshan Maah rallies were held across several districts of Nagaland on September 7. 

In Wokha, SDO (C), Chonpenthung Ezung flagged off the rally from Deputy Commissioner’s Office Wokha.

The whole month of September 2019 will be dedicated to promotion of nutrition and health considering the importance of nutrition and health in survival growth and development of the children, the activities will be carried in convergence with departments like Social Welfare, Medical, School Education and other line departments under the supervision of the District Administration.

Activities during this whole month will be dedicated to promotion nutrition and health through convergent action and creation of mass awareness at schools to host talk show and camp with the student’s to identify and eradicate of anemia and diarrhea. Where students will also be sensitized the ill effect of having junk foods and encourage them to take balance diet to develop good and healthy life. Pregnant mothers will also be sensitized as to how balance diet has to be maintained and developing the habit of fresh and nutritious food during pregnancy for the well being of both the mother and the child.

Cleanliness drive will also be carried during this month to create awareness for healthy environment, baby show will also be conducted to improve nutrition status among children’s, immunization and intensification of the village Health sanitation and nutrition day will be carried out in all health centers throughout the villages in the district.

Sr. Supervisor, CDPO Office Wokha, Erenbeni Kikon administered the Poshan pledge before flagging off the rally. Anganwadi, Asha Workers, adolescent Girls Club and Teachers were all present during the flagging off ceremony. Supplementary nutrition food was also distributed during the flagging off ceremony. CDPO, Wokha Myanlumo also urged all concerned involved to give their best for the success of the campaign.

The month long campaign targets in spreading message to every home the meaning of right nutrition, nutrition food, clean water and right practices of life, so that children will be healthy and strong and capable to face challenges.
In Zunheboto, the rally was flagged off by the DC & Chairman, DCAPC Poshan Abhyian Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo as the special guest. The Deputy Commissioner flagged off the rally at GHSS Zunheboto. 

Keynote address and Poshan pledge was said by DWO Zunheboto, Atula Kikon, while a special song was presented by Anganwadi children and vote of thanks was proposed by CDPO Akuluto, Dzuziingulie Terhuja.

A block level Poshan Rally was also conducted at Kuda village Dimapur organised by the Department of Social Welfare Dimapur, in which Anganwadi workers and helpers took part in the rally.

Meanwhile, in Niuland, Child Development Project Officer, Niuland organised the rally to sensitive the public on the importance of nutrition.

SDO (C) Niuland, Wacy Kent flagged off the rally after administering the Poshan Pledge. On the occasion, Anganwadi children also participated in the rally.

In Medziphema, the rally was organised by the Block Convergence Plan for Committee (BCPC) led by EAC Medziphema, Sentilong Ozukum and CDPO Tsungrosongla. During the Poshan Rally, Anganwadi workers, Self Help Groups, NGOs and students carrying placards and banners with slogan ‘Right Nutrition’ in the rally. Earlier, Poshan Pledge was read out led by the EAC Medziphema.
