Poumai Naga Covid Task Force donates Covid essentials, power backup to PHCs

Dimapur, June 21 (MExN): To extend support to the medical fraternity in their fight against the 2nd wave COVID-19 operating in the hill, the Poumai Naga Covid Task Force (PNCTF) donated Covid essentials including power backup to 5 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) operating within its jurisdiction. 

Among others, 1 oxygen concentrator and generator each, PPE kits, Hygiene kits and N95 Face Masks were distributed to MO in charge of PHC, Oinam Hill, PHC, Khongdei, PHC, Phaibung, PHC, Laii and PHC, Paomata.

First aid medicines and other essential medical tablets for each PHC were also given in view of the necessities for each healthcare centre, a press release from PNCTF informed. 

The handing over of the essentials were witness by ADM Senapati; CMO Senapati; Medical Officers (MO) of the 5 PHCs; President Naga People's Organization (NPO); Vice President Senapati District Woman Association (SDWA); Health Secretary I/c All Tribal Students Association Manipur (ATSUM); AGS Senapati District Students Association (SDSA); officials of Poumai Naga Union (PNU); Poumai Naga Women's Union (PNNM); Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM), and Senior leaders and we'll wishers.

Addressing the gathering, PNCTF Convenor J Joyti, Convenor said that the ask force was formed on May 25 in a joint meeting of the Poumai Naga Union (PNU), Poumai Naga Women's Union (PNNM) and the Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM) in view of the emergent need in the region.

It was formed with the sole vision to improve the function of the various health care centres within the jurisdiction of Poumai, he said.  

With the arrival of the second wave of COVID-19 in the region, the convenor mentioned the urgent need to ensure readiness to fight against the virus in the land.

 In this connection, team of the Poumai Naga Frontal organisations last visited the PHCs in Poumai jurisdiction and found several shortages, he said.

Accordingly, the PNCTF reportedly sought donations from other individuals, organizations, churches, villages and subordinates of the PNTM with which, required materials were procured for distribution.

The PNCTF also expressed gratitude to all who has come forward to contribute towards the cause and made a special mentioned of J Maivio Woba, a Prominent Social Worker, for donating 5 Oxygen Concentrators, PPE kits, Hygiene kits, N95 face masks and in cash, the release said. 

 Naga People's Organisation President, Solomon Arow lauded the task force for all the arrangements they had made in view of emergent need at this difficult time. 

Dr Pfokreho Pfoze, CMO, Senapati also expressed gratitude for the concern the Poumai frontal organizations have for people of the region by stepping forward in the form of valuable gifts.

D Dailord Pao, President, PNU on behalf of the PNCTF expressed gratitude to all contributors who had contributed individually, villages, societies, churches and all who had made the mission a grand success, it said. Earlier, the Poumai Naga Officers Federation (PNOF) had donated a 33 kv generator to the District Hospital, Senapati.
