Power dept to complete installation of prepaid meters in Dimapur by March 31

• 15 days notice for disconnection to defaulters 
• Request to put agenda for discussing high revenue arrears
• To work out detailed action plan on a daily basis

Dimapur, January 8 (MExN): The State Level Special Team of Power Department has decided to complete installation and commissioning of prepaid meters allocated for Dimapur within March 31, 2022.

This was decided during the State Level Special Team of Power Department first meeting for the year 2022 in office of SLDC Nagarjan, Dimapur. 

The meeting was attended by the representatives of District Administration, Police and all the officers of Power Department in Dimapur and Chümoukedima, stated a update from the DIPR. 

Sara S Jamir, NCS, Joint Secretary, Power who is also the team leader,  in her opening remark observed that regarding the prepaid meter there may be some reservation but it may not be for any selfish motive but due to the lack of awareness and also failure on our part in creating awareness. “The citizens of Dimapur with cosmopolitan outlook it may not be a problem once proper awareness is created,” she stated. 

After deliberation in the meeting, the house also decided that the Department shall issue 15 days notice for disconnection of power supply to all defaulting Government Offices and Departments of Dimapur and Chümoukedima for non-payment of electricity bill arrears.

The representatives of the District Administration present during the meeting were requested to put an agenda for discussing the high revenue arrears of all Government departments in the next DPDB meeting of Dimapur. 

All officers of Dimapur and Chümoukedima were requested “to work out detailed action plan on a daily basis for effecting disconnection activities of power supply to all defaulting and non-paying electricity consumers.” It also decided for the Executive Engineers of Dimapur and Chümoukedima to constantly monitor and submit weekly report to the Special Revenue Team. 

On the revenue collection, Jamir thanked the EE Chümoukedima and EE Dimapur, and also meter readers who had gone extra miles in reading the meters, serving accurate bill to the consumers resulting in improvement of revenue collection, lineman, Shift Engineer, JEs, billing assistance, SDOs and Engineers who work 24x7 to provide uninterrupted Power supply. 

Jamir also thanked District Administration and Police department for their co-operation and support and also the citizens of Dimapur and Chümoukedima. “Without Public support our exercise could be in vain she said to put on record she thank the colony, ward, village leaders, G8s, youth for their active support and participation in checking and controlling power theft,” she stated. 

She also said, “With such kind of like minded forward public leaders and elders power theft, hooking and meter bypassing will be a thing of past where consumer can enjoy uninterrupted Power supply without extra load in their transformer resulting in overloading and failure of transformer.”

Jamir thanked EE transmission and team for putting extra efforts in improving of overall power supply in the District by working tirelessly in maintaining proper transmission line for which “we can enjoy our festive season.”
