Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The Organising Committee of Dimapur Night Carnival 2016, headed by the Deputy Commissioner, Kesonyu Yhome and SDO (Civil) Dimapur, Moa Sangtam, are preparing to make the popular carnival more innovative and productive this year. The fourth edition of Dimapur Night Carnival will be a five-day event from December 14 to December 18 (5:00 pm to 9:00 pm). There will be around 200 stalls put up at the venue - Naga Shopping Arcade, the Organising Committee informed media persons on October 9 at Hotel Saramati here. Introduced in 2013, the yearly carnival is organized under the aegis of district administration by the business communities comprising the Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI), East Dimapur Business Association (EDBA), and some government agencies. Apart from the yearly events, Dr. Khekugha Muru, Secretary to sub-committee informed that a new ‘innovation committee’ has been added which will oversee new ideas to make the carnival more active unlike the previous monotonous event. The organising committee has also arranged an award for ‘Best Stall’, which will be judged based on the stall maintenance and the items put up at the stall, he revealed. A ‘business zone’ has also been proposed for the carnival so that companies and corporate can display their products. The committee expressed that they are expecting more corporate participation. Meanwhile, the Dimapur Night Carnival Organising Committee strictly appealed to various organisations to avoid using the ‘Dimapur Night Carnival’ nomenclature even for their respective ward’s carnival. The appeal was made in view of the night carnival trend getting popular in Dimapur. The committee asserted that ‘Dimapur Night Carnival’ is the only district and official event and ward’s carnival should not confuse the other people. To mainly promote upcoming artists, the Organising Committee also informed, it will provide an open stage where dancers, musicians, stand up comedians and fashion enthusiasts can take part. Individuals and groups interested to open stalls at the carnival can collect forms from offices of BAN, EDBA, and DMC November 1, 2016 onwards and contact 8974016853 for more information.
