Kohima, May 8 (MExN): Officials and stakeholders convened at the DPDB Hall in Kohima on Wednesday for a consultative meeting to coordinate preparations for the Dr. T. Ao Inter-District Football Tournament, scheduled to be held in the state capital from August 1 to 15, 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem, NCS, and attended by General Secretary of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and MLA Benei M. Lamthiu, along with NFA President K. Neibou Sekhose and other district officials.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Lamthiu highlighted the significant progress in the standard of football tournaments in Nagaland, emphasizing the importance of professional and committed organisation. He stated that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) views Nagaland as a vital partner in the promotion of football in the North East and across the country. Lamthiu urged all concerned officers to be proactive in their duties and assured full technical support from the NFA to ensure the tournament’s success, noting that the event would serve as a critical platform for emerging football talent in the state.
DC Buchem acknowledged the high standards set by Tuensang district, which hosted the previous edition of the tournament, and encouraged officials in Kohima to aim even higher in their preparations.
NFA President Sekhose provided an overview of the tournament’s history and its official recognition by the AIFF. He noted that all participating players and officials will be registered on the federation’s official portal, underlining the event’s growing professional stature.
The meeting concluded with a detailed discussion among Kohima district officials on the formation of various sub-committees and a roadmap to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament.
