Preparations underway for I-Day celebration in Chozuba sub-division

CHOZUBA, AUGUST 5 (MExN): The Chozuba sub-division of Phek district is all set to celebrate India’s 79th Independence Day with elaborate arrangements and detailed work distribution among various departments and institutions.

According to an official update, the main function will feature a ceremonial parade under the command of Posao Vero, ABSI, 5th NAP, Chozuba. Parade contingents will include Eastern Christian High School, GHS Yoruba, NCC and students from GHSS Chozuba and GHS Japan Riba, along with personnel from 111 Bn BSF. Officer-in-Charge, PS Chozuba, has been tasked with overall coordination of the parade including saluting base, line marking, security, traffic, flag bearing and retreat arrangements. Parade rehearsals are scheduled for August 11 to 13 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at the local ground, with Greenwood Cottage School Chozuba leading the national anthem.

As per the assigned responsibilities, BDO Sekruzu will oversee rostrum decoration, while SDAO Chozuba and EBRC Chozuba will manage the arrangement of 500 chairs at the function venue and 200 chairs at the GA Rest House respectively. Tent arrangements will be handled by the Coy Commander, 111 Bn ‘F’ Coy BSF. DIC and NKVIB will set up welcome gates and banners.

Road maintenance and ground levelling will be carried out by SDO PWD (R&B) and NST Chozuba. Toilet cleaning and whitewashing of the rostrum will be handled by JE (Housing), while the public ground cleaning will be the joint responsibility of SDO (Soil), Sub-Treasury Office, and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services. Electricity and water supply at the venue will be arranged by J.E. Power and SDO PHED respectively. The Department of Information & Public Relations will manage the sound system and event publicity.

GHSS Chozuba will arrange comperes and bouquet girls for the event. Refreshments for dignitaries will be coordinated by the SDEO Chozuba, while catering for the VIPs, state lunch, and hospitality arrangements at the GA Rest House will be handled by EAC Sekruzu and ADC office staff. Printing and despatch of invitation cards and programmes will be looked after by EAC Chetheba and ADC staff.

The Town Council, Chozuba, will oversee visits to hospitals, special homes, and prayer centres. Distribution of programmes, speeches, and departmental attendance will be managed by Dobashis and Gaon Buras of Chozuba Town Council. Security duties will be carried out by 5th NAP, Chozuba, with medical coverage by the Senior Medical Officer, CHC Chozuba, and environmental security by the 111 Bn BSF.

Cultural entertainment during the main function will be presented by Yoruba village, under the charge of Veku Khusoh, and Transcend Voice (Rukusa), coordinated by EAC Chozuba.

Exhibition stalls will be set up by the Departments of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Forest, Special Home Chozuba, and the Dobashis. Additional stalls will be put up by DIC (one stall), SDAO (two stalls), NKVIB (one stall), and GHSS Chozuba (one stall). Interested parties must apply to EAC Chozuba by August 10, along with Rs 2,000 fee per stall.

Arrangements at the GA Rest House will be overseen by the Senior Supervisor, CDPO Office, Chozuba. Tent setups for general dining will be undertaken by BDOs of Chetheba and Sekruzu, while DBs Chozuba will manage hand wash and dustbin arrangements. Refreshments during parade rehearsals will be provided by SKs of Chozuba, Chetheba, and Sekruzu in coordination with EAC Chozuba. Distribution of sweets and light refreshments will be done by SBI and NSCB, Chozuba.
Protocol responsibilities will be managed by the EACs of Chozuba and Chetheba.

An official order has directed all government offices under the sub-division to hoist the national flag at 6:00 AM on August 15. All government employees have been instructed to ensure attendance and complete assigned duties by 4:00 PM on August 14. The state lunch at the GA Rest House will be by invitation only.
