Press clubs receive grant-in-aid

Kohima, April 28 (DIPR): The Department of Information & Public Relations held a programme in the office chamber of the Parliamentary Secretary for IPR, Khekaho Assumi on April 28 where grant-in-aid were given to all the press clubs namely Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung.  

Speaking at the programme, Khekaho expressed his happiness to all the press clubs for attending the programme. Stressing on the importance of good relationship, he said cooperation and maintaining good rapport between the government and media fraternity was very important to address any kind of grievances and getting things done at the earliest. He also asked all the media persons to come out openly with their problems, suggestions and innovative ideas in order to build strong bonding in future.

Secretary, IPR, T. Ao, IAS who also spoke on the occasion said that the department has been actively pursuing cases pertaining to media fraternity like Press Accreditation rules, Journalists’ Welfare Fund and Recos to Safety of Journalists on which he said all the concerned departments have been kept intact and hoped to address those issues at the earliest.  

Additional Director, IPR, Limwati Ao who chaired the programme gave a brief outline about the grant-in-aid. He said that IPR being the nodal department for press related issues would look after the media fraternity in the state. He also thanked the press clubs for being responsive and extended every possible help irrespective of good or bad times to the department. He hoped that the department would experience a new height under the dynamic leadership and magnanimity of Parliamentary Secretary and Secretary, IPR.
