Wokha, March 16 (MExN): Pro Fitness Gym, Wokha, extended its support to Ekhumrhong Rehab Centre at Yikhum village by organising a physical fitness programme for residents of the rehabilitation centre on March 16. The initiative will be conducted every 30 days as part of the centre’s recovery schedule.
The programme is designed for individuals undergoing a 45-day rehabilitation stay. After 30 days of treatment, fitness exercises are introduced to provide alternative engagement for participants, helping them prevent relapse and avoid returning to old habits.
During recovery, physical fitness is considered vital for building confidence and overcoming social stigmas, making such training an important component of rehabilitation.
At present, 11 persons are staying at the centre, with some expected to be released soon. The fitness session was led by Director of Ekhumrhong Rehab Centre, Mhabemo Odyuo, who guided the group through exercises aimed at strengthening both physical and mental resilience.
The initiative reflects a growing recognition of the role of fitness in rehabilitation by offering structured activities that support recovery, instill discipline and encourage healthier lifestyles.
