
Kohima, August 3 (MExN): The Probationers 2014 Batch celebrated ‘Festivals of Nagaland with Tsungremmong’ at the Administrative Training Institute, Kohima as part of their training on August 3.
A press release said that Bendang Longkumer NCS (P) chaired the programme. Highlights of the celebration included presentation of the ‘Festivals of Nagaland’ by probationers. Nukshimatong presented the meaning and significance of Tsungremmong Festival. A cultural tune was beautifully presented by the Lotha officers.
ATI Deputy Director, Dr. Hovithal Sothu gave a short speech, where he stressed on the importance of preserving our rich culture and traditions. He said that culture and traditions are important because they transmit shared values, stories and goals from one generation to the next. He also said that traditions encourage groups of people to create and share a collective identity, which in turn serves to shape individual identities. Hence, the youth of today need to practice the rich cultures of our people so that they are preserved for the future generation.
The probationers presented the theme song of 2014 Batch after which Er.N.Moa Longkumer gave the closing remarks. The function was followed by a rich display of culture by the Chungtia villagers of Kohima. “Top” game and “Tug of War” were also played between the probationers and the cultural troupe of Chungtia Village.
The programme ended with a grand feast of Ao (Naga) delicacies prepared by the Probationers of 2014 batch.
