The three-day Khensa Students Union (KST) 75 years jubilee celebration commenced on December 29 at the Multipurpose Community Hall on the theme ‘Progress in Harmony.’ The event started with opening act presented by Dimapur Khensa Students’ Union.
“Jubilee celebrations offer us an occasion to thank the almighty God, a time of joy and thanksgiving and also to appreciate the past, celebrate the present and aspire the future,” Asangla Imti, Director Food and Civil Supply, Kohima said in her message.
“As we celebrate it, we should be able to showcase our achievements, past and current and seek to bring out the best in the future. It is time to reflect whether we are preserving our rich heritage and whether we are enhancing our image or whether there has been some detritions,” she stated.
Exhorting the students present, she stated that “degree itself is not enough. One should strive for excellence. Education is not only about book knowledge but to know one’s root, culture and tradition. This disciplines us.”
Sharing concerns about the ‘deteriorating quality of society,’ she pointed out that what the Nagas need today is ‘to home-grow our model of development based on our inherent strengths.’ She said a paradigm shift in one’s mindset and to gain momentum and confidence to act as a driver of change in the society was the need of the hour. She added that this requires realization of true potential and the commitment to serve the people in the right track.
Khensa Village Council chairman, Y Chuba Longchar in his exhortation speech challenged the gathering to look back to the past 75 years and recount the blessings from God. While encouraging them to seek the knowledge and guidance from the pioneers, he called upon the gathering to strive towards achieving what is being lacked today.
