PSC caution PWD (R&B) Nagaland for ‘negligence’

Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The Phom Students Conference/Phom Laivangh Pangthai (PSC/PLP) has alleged the Department of PWD (R&B) Nagaland for negligence of work on the Longleng-Ladigarh NEC Road Group ‘A’ & ‘C’.

A press note issued by PSC president Chaupong Leinak stated that on October 28, 2011 an Agreement was signed between Department of PWD (R&B) Nagaland Additional Chief Engineer, Circle Superintend Engineer, Executive Engineer Longleng, and the Phom Students Conference in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Longleng and Head GB Longleng. This, it stated was the result of a joint meeting held on October 27, 2011 between the two parties.

The press note informed that a PSC Executive had gone to inspect the work on November 28, 2012 and February 26, 2013, but was shocked to have found that the progress of work was ‘nil’ in both cases. “Like the people of any other district, it has been the wishes of the Conference that its people too have good road condition. However, the way in which the concerned authority functions at present clearly indicates the prevalence of the corruption in the system at the cost of the wishes and dreams of the less privileged backward people,” PSC stated.

Thus, taking serious note of the failure on the part of the concerned department to check the progress of the work and the complete negligence made by the concerned contractors, PSC has warned the Department of PWD (R&B) Nagaland that it is well prepared to take the matter to ‘next level’ if the Department fails to comply with the Para 5, 6, 7 & 8 of the Agreement. It also informed that PSC had enforced an agitation throughout Longleng-Ladigarh NEC Road against the negligence and poor workmanship, which, however, was called off on October 25, 2011 on receiving a W/T message from the Chief Engineer (R&B) Nagaland.
