DIMAPUR, APRIL 10 (MExN): The Phom Student’s Conference has directed the attention of the PWD (R&B) department to the “deplorable condition” of certain road stretches under Longleng district. A press note by Chaupong Leinak, President of the PSC has informed that the student’s organization had conducted inspections of various developmental works to estimate the quality of workmanship in the district under the NLCPR scheme.
While acknowledging that the road from Tuophema to Kasha under the NLCPR has completed blacktopping, he however revealed that the construction of the road under the same scheme in Longleng District “is in a deplorable condition wherein, soiling and metaling have not been completed yet.” He also informed that there has been a lack of progress on the construction of a bridge on the Alanglep River which lies on the Longleng-Yongnyah Road. He asserted that the conference can no longer be a mere spectator on the slow progress of developmental works in the district.
While extending its full support and cooperation for the early completion of the work, the PSC has reminded the PWD (R&B) department to immediately intervene in this matter and direct the concerned contractors to expedite the construction works. It also called for timely completion of the work as per the guide lines laid down by the government in the work order.
