Public contribute to construct motorable road at Longla Village

Wokha, December 13 (DIPR): A newly constructed motorable road was inaugurated at Longla Village B Khel colony on December 12. It was constructed by contributing cash, materials and labour by both the residents and non-residents of the colony people.

Opening the approximately 300 metres road as the chief guest, C. Thungbemo Kikon, Village Chairman observed that, given the nature of the village which is built by the forefathers on layers and plates of rocks, constructing the road by erecting a retaining wall of about 6 feet and filling and levelling it up with boulders proved to be a hard work but their determination resulted into a commendable success. He also said that constructing the road out of self-resources is a noble action, an eye opener and a challenge which merits emulation by others to help ourselves for development and progress in the society.

K. Janbemo Kikon, who initiated and coordinated with Tsatheo Kikon for the self help project, stated that it was a long felt need of the colony to have a motorable road which can reach the neighbourhood and it finally came into existence through public cooperation as everyone was willing to donate part of their residential land besides other required factors.

Wobemo Kikon, Pastor Longla, who pronounced the dedicatory prayer, congratulated the colony people for gifting themselves with the new road during the Christmas time.
