DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 7 (MExN): The Eastern Yingnyu Public Forum and the supporters of Er. T. L. Semdok, intending candidate of RJD for 50 Longleng A/C has strongly condemned the “senseless and idiotic act” of the rival party where the houdr of the candidate was attacked on February 5, 2008. The press release issued byK. Nangba Phom, convener of the forum stated that the rivals had badly damaged the house and vehicle (jeep) parked outside the residence of the candidate, without any rhyme or reason. The release also expressed pain to say that certain party’s supports were threatening and attacking the supporters of Semdok which would only hamper free and fair election in the constituency and added this kind of activities ignores and kills the constitutional rights and laws in a democratic country. The forum goes on to say that such acts create fear psychosis and division among the citizens of the constituency.
“All the rival party should know that only might or violence will not overcome or win the election” state the forum and appeals to all the citizens, parties and individual to maintain peace and tranquility in the ensuing election, vote and elect the right person who would take the constituency to a better future and work for the society and district. The Forum also appeals to the district administration and police departments to take necessary initiatives and measures to control the situation of the area before the situation worsens.
