MOKOKCHUNG, SEPt 4 (MExN): An appeal has been made by DEO Mokokchung and DIS Changtongya under Section 19 of RTI, against the PIO of School Education department for furnishing ‘irrelevant information.’
The appeal addressed to the Chief Information Officer stated that the PIO has been asked for information under RTI in a letter dated 18/06/2007 but the PIO had furnished completely irrelevant information on June 24.
The press communiqué pointed out that the matter had been heard by the Chief Information Commissioner on August 8 with the ‘irrelevant documents’ provided by the PIO. The appeal added that the concerned PIO was trying to conceal the entire matter and twisting public interest at his own whims and fancies. The appellant requests the Commissioner to initiate appropriate action and impose necessary penalities under section 20 of the RTI Act.
