Public, orgs urged to indentify bogus voters

Dimapur, October 14 (MExN): In a bid to achieve error-free Electoral Rolls, the Election Department has appealed to all the colony or village GBs, Council members, church leaders and student bodies to participate in the ensuing Special Revision Works by way of strict adherence in identifying genuine applicants for inclusion in rolls, deleting the names of expired, shifted, multiple entry, bogus and underage entries etc from the existing Rolls. 

“By extending your help to the Booth level Officers through impartial ways will help Election Department achieve error-free Photo E/Rolls of the district and can avoid the problems of various means of malpractices during the future conduct of elections. The election machineries of our district once again appeal to all right thinking citizens to uphold honesty and integrity in preparation of Photo E/Rolls 2012,” stated a press note issued by The Electoral Registration Officer of Dimapur K Tarep Imchen.  Also, any Booth level Officers (BLOs) found indulging in malpractices should be reported to the Electoral Registration Officer so that necessary action as per Section 32 of RP Act 1950 will be initiated against the erring BLOs.

The note further stated that in order to conduct fair elections with 100 % error-free photo electoral rolls and to prepare error-free elector identity cards, the Election Commission of India is presently conducting special summary revision of electoral rolls with effect from October 1 to October 31. In pursuance of ECI order, the Dimapur district Election Department has deployed BLOs to all the polling stations under five Assembly Constituencies and through the BLOs any bona fide citizen of India can file for claims.

Forms for filing claims

1.    Form 6 – Claims for inclusion in the E/Rolls.
2.    Form 6A – Claims for inclusion in the E/Rolls( Only for Indian Citizen residing outside the country)
3.    Form 7 – Claims for deletion of entries in E/Rolls.
4.    Form 8 – Claims for correction of electoral entries including photographs.
5.    Form 8A – Claims for transfer of entries from one polling station to another polling station within the same Assembly Constituency.
6.    Form 001B  –  Applications for submission of photograph for elector whose photos are yet to appear in PER.
