Pughoboto, March 9 (DIPR): Minister for R&B and Pughoboto SDPDB Chairman, Y. Vikheho Swu has lamented that Pughoboto even after being one of the oldest administrative areas still does not have an exam center. He expressed this during the Pughoboto Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board meeting held on March 7 at Kitami Council Hall, Asukiqa area. While deliberating on the HSLC Exam Center, the Minister also said that to establish the Center it requires enrollment, bank, post office, and school building.
He further encouraged the five villages’ joint village council under Asukiqa not to send their children outside their areas in order to maintain good enrollment and thereby giving efforts to bring exam center next year.
On the agenda for opening of non-banking treasury at Pughoboto, the ADC of Pughoboto, Avelu Ruho said that as per the direction of RBI, non-banking conversion to banking treasury policy has been adopted. The Minister also said that opening of Treasury Office in Pughoboto Town is most essential to bring more developmental activities in the area. He asked the departments to move for Drawing Disbursing Officer (DDO) status and enclose necessary documents to fulfill the criteria to open up Treasury Office.
Expressing concern over climate change, Vikheho said that tree plantation has been fixed on May 7. For the beautification of the area, he requested the villages to co-operate with the officials during the plantation drive and cited examples of developed countries like US which advocates country living. The Minister also encouraged awareness on rainwater harvesting.
Police outpost at Asukiqa and other proposals submitted would be taken up in the current year, the Minister said. He further informed that hydro-project in Chesilemi, for which he has been struggling for the last 26 years, has been approved and will start shortly.
Other agenda discussed in the meeting included Town Council, Inter Departmental Badminton to be kicked off from April 6 evening after the SDPDB meeting at Ghathashi Town. SDO (C) Pughoboto, Er. Namang Sepong Chang also shared his experiences of how Pungro Sub Division got the HSLC Exam Centre during his time as administrator.
ADC Avelu Ruho also highlighted on the disaster management fund.
