Pungro organisations appeal SBI for ATMs and deployment of staff

Pungro, June 19 (MExN): The Public Forum Pungro Sub-Division and GBs Union Pungro Sub-Division have appealed to the State Bank of India to deploy adequate staff at the SBI Pungro branch and install Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).

In a joint ‘open letter’ addressed to the Regional  Manager, State Bank of India - Regional Business Office, Dimapur, the organisations drew attention to the grievances faced by the public in the banking sector. The letter stated that owing to erratic network connectivity, people in remote places like Pungro cannot make use of the various online banking services. The only viable means, it said, is to visit the branch not only for withdrawal/deposit/ transfer transactions but also  for fixing minor issues.

“In view of the above circumstance, it has been long felt desire of the public of Pungro Sub-Division for immediate installation of Swayam Machine (automated passbook printing machines) and Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) for the hassle-free services,” the letter stated. It also underscored that there is an acute shortfall of Staff at SBI Pungro Branch which is currently being manned by the Branch Manager and a clerk causing immense daily hardships to the customers and staff alike. As such, the organisations appealed the SBI authorities to redress the matter in the customer’s interest.
