
Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): With a vision to conserve natural resources and to strengthen the village resolution passed on January 23, 2016 the Phesama Youth Organisation (PYO) will be organising mass tree plantation day on April 23.
A press note from PYO President Khriezhapu Kuotsu informed that the January’s resolution was a reaffirmation of a resolution was adopted on 1994 by the Phesama Village Council expressing grave concern over the serous socio-ecological crisis and environmental issues looming in the area.
The resolution banned hunting, fishing, collecting of firewood, grass, herbs, plants etc, burning of jungles and dumping of loose mud in its jurisdiction.
“The resolution was further reaffirmed on January 23, 2016 and authorised the PYO to implement the resolution in Toto,” the press note added. T
he core aim of the tree plantation is in view of water conservation which has become a pertinent issue to the village community in particular and the surrounding areas in general, it said.
The PYO further requested all the members under Phesama Village Council both in the village and elsewhere to positively attend the mass tree plantation.
