Dimapur, January 19 (MExN): In commemoration of its Golden Jubilee, the Ao Students' Union Dimapur (ASUD) is set to organize a Quarter Marathon on January 29 which will be open to all citizens of Dimapur.
The said event will mark the beginning of the year long jubilee celebrations. Cash prizes will be awarded in both men's and women's categories as follows: 1st prize – Rs. 20,000, 2nd – Rs.10,000, 3rd – Rs. 5,000. In addition, consolation cash prizes of Rs. 1000 each will be given to five male and five female runners.
Registration for the marathon will be free and desks will be open between 5:00 am and 5:40 am at State Stadium on the said date. Therefore, runners are requested to arrive on time and register, after which chest numbers will be allotted.
The route for the marathon will be as follows: State Stadium-Tajen Ao Road-City Tower-Khermahal Police Point-Overbridge-Burma Camp Police Point-Walford-Supermarket-Flyover-Nyamo Lotha Road-Dhobinalla-PWD Road-Duncan Basti-State Stadium.
The ASUD in a press release encouraged interested individuals and groups from all tribes and communities to participate in the event in order to make it a grand success and to foster the spirit of unity among Dimapurians. The Union especially invited its former office bearers, secretaries and members to be a part of the marathon.
