Railways to restore eight pairs of passenger trains

Maligaon, September 8 (MExN): The North East Frontier Railways (NFR) today announced that eight more pairs of passenger carrying trains are going to be introduced shortly.   The trains (see box) are in addition to the 11 pairs of trains already restored since movements of trains over affected portion started last week.   It may be mentioned here that the flood damaged portion of track on the UP line along with bridge no 133 between Sudhani and Telta station was certified fit for train running on August 29 at restricted speed. While the first goods train in the restored section has been running from August 29, passenger services have started plying from September 2.   Trains to be introduced Down line certified fit for plying of goods train In another positive development, railway authority has been able to open the flood affected down line portion of track at the same location between Sudhani and Telta station today.   The down line portion has been certified fit to run goods train with Stop Dead- 10 KMPH. The first goods train passed over down line section at about 12:30 pm today. The situation at site is being monitored 24x7 by railway officials and work is in progress for early restoration of passenger traffic. It is expected to restore passenger traffic in down line by September 10, the NFR informed in a press release.
